I’ve been exploring the world through stories as far back as I can remember. Whether it was with a Nikon, no. 2 pencil, or a fat, chunky, crayon, makes no difference. With me, it’s always been about the stories.
That’s why I love being a freelance writer and photographer. I go to work feeling like a kid in a candy store. That’s the truth.
I am based in Charleston, South Carolina, but I’m an avid traveler. I was born in Saginaw, Michigan, vanish into the Blue Ridge Mountains every chance I get, and am having a love affair with the desert southwest: all the colors by day and the skies awash in stars at night. I just got back from Amsterdam and I’m currently planning a trip to the Orkney Islands, just north of Scotland’s mainland.
My favorite things in the whole wide world are hiking trails, autumn leaves, winter constellations, meteor showers, and old ruins overrun by wisteria. I love finding hidden treasures in bookstores and devour the works of writers as diverse as Rick Bragg, Kay Redfield Jamison, and Paul Bowles.
I also bring to the table a baccalaureate in chemistry, graduate schooling in public health, and more than a decade of experience working with physicians, nurses, and epidemiologists.
If you are looking for someone to help tell a story – in words, pictures, or both – I would love to hear from you. You can expect professionalism and promptness. References and clips are available upon request.
